QUALIFICATIONS: Accredited from Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Billy Hydes and former David Jones student
DAYS AVAILABLE: Monday - Thursday (mornings/afternoons/evenings) and Saturday mornings
MORE INFO: Having studied with some of the greatest drummers around including David Jones and Gordon Rythmeister, Steve Macris is an exceptionally talented performer and a gifted teacher. Since graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2001, Steve’s impressive list of career experience includes session drumming for Greece and Turkey’s international artists in which he’s performed at the Hordern, State Theatre, Enmore Theater, Acer Arena and toured to China, Japan and Singapore. He has recorded on albums, played in original and cover bands, taught at various high-schools and music schools, and was even a runner-up in the prestigious Billy Hydes Drum Play Offs. Currently Steve performs with cover band Jelly Bean Jam and is still a session drummer for various artists.
Steve doesn’t only focus on his music, but he shares his experience and knowledge to others who are willing to learn. Whether you’re a young 4 year old or an adult enthusiast wanting to play drums, Steve can teach all ages, all styles, all reasons and all levels from beginner to advanced. Having taught privately for 15 years, Steve is a patient, down-to-earth and creative teacher who ensures his students establish a strong foundation while making the lessons fun and enjoyable. His unique and creative approach to teaching means you’ll be exposed to a multitude of combinations from one drum pattern, while learning the fundamentals of basic hand patterns, reading of drum notes, coordination exercises, fills, rhythms and much more. Through structured lessons, Steve doesn’t merely focus on theories, but combines them with practical application that will facilitate your learning.
